Skydive: Moab Style

What do you do when you find Skydiving for half price on Groupon? You buy it and make a whole big trip out of it of course! I think we bought these back in March, could have been April, and then we all took a look at our schedules and made plans for an Epic Camping Trip to Moab.
Thursday we headed out at about 7 p.m. We took 2 cars and we were packed in tight. We got to camp pretty late and set up in the dark. Friday morning we got up to make breakfast and get ready for SKYDIVING!!!
Sadly at about 8 they called to tell us that it was too windy and they were doing dives that day. LAME SAUCE. Aubrey made it pretty clear that this was unacceptable and asked what they were going to do about it. After some calling, weather look-ups, and talking to the man in the front office of our campground we decided they were probably being honest with us and decided to go at the crack of dawn on Saturday. So we switched our plans around and headed to Monticello to go to the temple. Aubrey and I have a goal to go to all the temples in Utah and since we were so close to Monticello it would be ridiculous to not go and have to make the long trip out another day.
We barely made our session. Seriously we were running into the temple with the session starting in 5 minutes, but we made it. I'll have to get temple pictures from Aubrey and post them later. After the temple we headed to Loyd's Lake for lunch and swimming. The lake wasn't exactly what we were thinking it would be so we decided to just eat and head back to the campground and swim in the pool. It was pretty darn hot. Dinner was nice, but for me the highlight of the night was making cake in an orange. I found it on pinterest and thought I'd give it a whirl. It was AWESOME!!!

Saturday morning we were up at 5:15 a.m. to make it to the airport by 6. Luckily the wind was mild and we had high hopes that we'd get to jump. And jump we did!! It was a lot different from our jump last year in Ogden. No jumpsuits or funky hats. And the airplane was TINY! In Ogden you could fit 6 pairs of jumpers. No such luck here. There were two sets of jumpers and the pilot. Aubrey and I were up first. Good thing we decided I'd be the first jumper since I sat right by the lack of door. It was AMAZING! The view was incredible. The actually free fall was really short and the parachute ride down didn't seem very long either, but it was still really awesome.

I have a video of us coming down that my brother took, but it doesn't appear to be working, so it will have to wait til another day. After skydiving we headed back to camp to pack up and head to Arches for some hiking.
Delicate Arch. It was SO windy, we decided not to walk out to the arch for fear of being blown off the rocks.
It was HOT, but seriously kind of ridiculous. And SO windy! We had a lot of fun and were completely wiped out by the end of our hike only to get back to the car and have to drive the 3.5 hours back to Provo. It was a good trip but I was completely worn out.
It was too hot to sleep in the tents, so Julie just made do with the ground in the shade.
Aubrey was really tired in the car and didn't like the sun in her face so the cooler lid provided some much needed shade.
I slept 10 hours Saturday night and managed to get a 1.5 hour nap in on Sunday. I slept 7 hours last night and I'm ready for a nap now. It was a good weekend, but man I'm tired!
